Arunachal Pradesh, often called the "Land of the Dawn-Lit Mountains," is a hidden gem in the northeastern part of India, steeped in natural beauty and cultural richness. The region's pristine landscapes, from the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas to its lush valleys, create an ethereal atmosphere, much like the serene backdrop described in the love poem by Tsangyang Gyatso, the 6th Dalai Lama: "I sought my love at dusk; Snow had fallen at dawn. Why bother with secrets? Footprints left in the snow!"
Upon arrival at Guwahati airport/railway station, you will be met by our driver and we will make our way to Tezpur. Known as the cultural capital of Assam, Tezpur is a charming town adorned with beautifully maintained parks, attractive lakes, and enchanting views of the mighty Brahmaputra River. Upon reaching, we will check into our hotel. Depending on your arrival time, we can enjoy a Brahmaputra River cruise in the evening, witnessing a beautiful sunset. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Early this morning, you will be picked up from your location and driven to Dirang, passing through the scenic landscapes of the Eastern Himalayas. If time permits, we will visit the old Dirang Village and Dirang Dzong. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, proceed to Tawang, located at an altitude of approximately 3,048 meters. Tawang is renowned for its many significant and beautiful monasteries and is famous as the birthplace of the Dalai Lama. En route, visit the world’s second-highest motorable pass, Sela Pass (13,700 ft), and the picturesque Paradise Lake (Sela Lake). Stop by Jaswant Garh, a memorial dedicated to the brave soldier who single-handedly tried to hold off the approaching Chinese forces during the 1962 Indo-Chinese war. Continue your drive towards Tawang and check into your hotel upon arrival. In the evening, visit the Tawang Monastery. Overnight stay in Tawang.
This morning, visit Penga Teng Tso (PT Tso), a high-altitude lake located about 20 kilometers from Tawang at around 12,000 feet. This serene lake is nestled amidst sensational natural beauty, with snow-capped mountains surrounding it on all sides.Next, drive an additional 20 kilometers to Sangetsar Lake, famously known as Madhuri Lake. Formed in 1971 due to an earthquake that transformed the area from grassland to a stunning lake, Sangetsar Lake offers picturesque views with snow-capped mountains and a beautiful valley. Enjoy a casual stroll along the pathways around the lake.Afterward, head to Bumla Pass, situated at an altitude of 16,000 feet on the Indo-China border. This pass, known for its challenging conditions, was the route used by the Dalai Lama to escape from Tibet into India. It's a great spot for adventure enthusiasts to assess their fitness levels. Later, transfer back to Tawang and stay overnight at your hotel.
This morning, after breakfast, drive down to Bomdila, a picturesque small town situated at an altitude of approximately 8,000 feet above sea level. En route, visit the stunning Nuranang Waterfall. Upon arrival in Bomdila, check into your hotel. Later, visit the Upper or Lower Gompa in Bomdila. You can also take a leisurely stroll around the town. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Today morning after breakfast transfer to Guwahati and check into hotel.
After breakfast visit Kamakhya temple. The temple is devoted to the eternal feminine, the goddess of desire whose name is Kamakhya, granter of desires. The Temple symbolizes the fusion of faiths and practices of Aryan and non-Aryan elements in Assam. The different names associated with the goddess are names of local Aryan and non-Aryan goddesses. The famous Shakti shrine of India. Later on transfer to the airport/railway station in time for onward connection.
