After breakfast, embark on a full-day tour of the world-famous Mughal Gardens. Begin with a visit to Nishat Bagh, the "Garden of Pleasure," and Shalimar Bagh, the "Abode of Love." Explore the serene Botanical Garden and the picturesque Cheshmashahi, also known as the Royal Spring Garden. If time permits, visit the Shankaracharya Temple, where you'll be rewarded with a fantastic view of the entire Srinagar city and its lakes. Please note that our vehicle is not permitted to access the temple; you will need to arrange alternative transport, with the cost borne by the guest. Return to your hotel in the evening for a delightful dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, embark on an incredibly scenic drive along the banks of the Sindh River to reach Sonmarg. Along the way, we'll make several stops at picturesque locations before finally arriving at Sonmarg, situated at an altitude of 2,690 meters (Meadow of Gold) and known as the Gateway to Ladakh. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, soaking in the beauty of Sonmarg. Enjoy the stunning Sindh River flowing through the lush green meadows and the breathtaking views of snow-covered mountains. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, embark on an easy and gradual trek to Thajiwas Glacier, situated at an altitude of 9,186 feet. Enjoy horse riding up to the glacier, where snow remains year-round, offering a magical experience amidst the magnificent beauty of the Himalayas. Late afternoon, return to your hotel. After breakfast, drive to Kargil. This journey is one of the world's most fascinating drives, gradually acclimating you to the high altitudes of Ladakh. The road ascends steeply to the spectacular Zoji La Pass at 3,529 meters, marking the boundary between Kashmir and Ladakh. As you cross, you'll witness the shift from Kashmir's lush greenery to the stark, barren landscape of the Trans-Himalayas. Descend to Drass, the second coldest inhabited place on earth, where temperatures can drop to -50°C. Continue along the Drass River, where the valley narrows into a gorge. After this breathtaking drive through incredible landscapes, arrive in Kargil. Overnight at the hotel.
After leaving Kargil, cross the Suru River and journey through dramatic ridges and valleys before reaching a high plateau. At Mulbekh, admire the impressive 9-meter-tall Maitreya Buddha sculpture carved into a rock face. Continue over the Namika La Pass, known as the ‘Pillar in the Sky’ at 3,720 meters, and then ascend to Fotu La, the highest pass on this route at 4,093 meters. At the summit, catch a glimpse of the mysterious Lamayuru Monastery. The road descends sharply, revealing the stunningly situated monastery, believed to be the oldest in Ladakh. Just before the monastery, explore the ‘Jalebi Ghat’ and drive 1.5 kilometers to view the unique moon-like landscape of wind-eroded hills and pinnacles. Following your visit to Lamayuru, proceed to Uleytokpo, a scenic village at 3,048 meters. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon with nature walks or, if you prefer, take a guided walk to the neighboring Mangyu village for a glimpse into traditional Ladakhi life. Alternatively, visit the Ridzon Monastery, the most isolated in Ladakh, known for its meditation caves and nunnery. Here, observe the daily lives and training of the nuns, and witness their evening prayers. Overnight at the hotel.
Enjoy a half-day excursion through paradise with a visit to Alchi. Every twist and turn reveals new vistas of natural beauty. The village of Alchi in lower Ladakh is one of the most important cultural sites in the Himalayas. Comprising four hamlets, Alchi is home to numerous historic monuments, the most famous being the 1,000-year-old monastic complex. This three-storied Himalayan temple, adorned with unique murals and iconography, is a fragile wooden structure and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is one of only four surviving monasteries founded by Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo in the late 10th and early 11th centuries, preserving some of the finest examples of Kashmiri art from that period. Continue your drive to Leh, stopping en route to visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, located 25 miles from Leh. This sacred site marks the place where Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, is believed to have vanquished a demon. Upon arrival in Leh, check into your hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
This morning, embark on a scenic drive to Hemis Gompa, the most important and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh, dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava, the great Indian teacher and philosopher. Founded in 1630 AD, Hemis Gompa is nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Hemis National Park. Located 45 km from Leh, it is one of the region's most popular monasteries, renowned worldwide for the Hemis Festival. Next, we drive to Thiksey Gompa, situated 17 km from Leh on the main highway towards Manali. This monastery, founded by Paldan Sherab, commands a panoramic view over the village below. Originally built at Stakmo, Thiksey Gompa is celebrated for the Thiksey Gustor festival. In the evening, we return to our hotel in Leh for a restful overnight stay.
This morning, we embark on a drive to the Nubra Valley, a secluded gem accessible only during a few months of the year due to its high passes. In contrast to the cooler Indus Valley, Nubra is warm and fertile, with walnut, apricot, apple, and mulberry trees flourishing. As we journey, enjoy stunning views of the Karakoram Range. We begin our exploration in Hunder, a picturesque village with maze-like paths, dappled sunlight, and charming tunnels formed by branches. The Ladakhi people’s ingenious irrigation systems sustain lush gardens and orchards. The warm, hospitable locals, with their rosy cheeks and wide smiles, exemplify happiness beyond material wealth. Next, we visit Sumur, another quaint village, and explore the Samstanling Gompa, home to impressive idols, frescoes, and tangkhas. Our journey continues to Panamik, a quiet village once a bustling caravan stop. Here, we visit the therapeutic hot springs and admire the tiny Ensa Gompa perched on the mountainside. In the late afternoon, we return to our hotel in Leh for a restful overnight stay.
Today, we embark on a guided tour to Turtuk, the last village before the Pakistan border. This remote village offers a unique glimpse into an ancient culture, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and rich history. Enjoy the warm hospitality and smiles of the local people as you explore this charming village. In the evening, we will drive back to Nubra for a restful night.
After breakfast, we visit Diskit Village, one of the largest in the region and home to the 350-year-old Diskit Gompa, the oldest and largest monastery in Nubra Valley. Explore the ancient monastery and soak in its rich history and spiritual ambiance. We will also take a leisurely walk through Nubra Village, where the incredibly friendly locals, despite their simple lifestyles, offer a warm welcome. Their traditional homes and way of life create a feeling of stepping into a living museum. Following our visit, we drive back to Leh for our overnight.
In the morning, transfer to the airport to board your flight to Jammu. Upon arrival at the Jammu airport, meet your guide and drive to Katra. After checking into your hotel and refreshing, head to the Katra Helipad, a short 10-minute drive away. From there, enjoy a scenic helicopter ride to Sanjichat. Upon arrival, it's an easy 2-3 km walk (approximately 30 minutes) to the Vaishno Devi shrine, or you can opt for a horse ride. With helicopter tickets, you receive a special pass, allowing you to bypass the general queue for a swift darshan experience. After the darshan, return to Sanjichat for your helicopter ride back to Katra. Your vehicle will be waiting at the Katra Helipad to take you back to the hotel. Spend the remaining time resting or exploring the local market. The Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast leave for Jammu on the way visit Raghunath Mandir and its market than proceed to the Jammu airport for your flight to your onward journey.
